CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Industrial Visit to KHMD

Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering had arranged a half day industrial visit to Karnataka Hybrid Micro Devices Limited (KHMD) on 24th Jan 2020, 45 students of Third year and two faculties had taken part.

KHMD is a professionally managed company engaged in the business of thick film Hybrid microelectronics catering to automotive and space segments since last 20 years. It is one of the largest manufacturers of Aerospace Microelectronics and sub systems having CEMILAC and DGAQA approvals, with the manufacturing and screening facilities approved by ISRO for delivery of components for operational spacecraft and by HAL for the complex avionics assemblies. The products which they produce are led ac drivers, led dc drivers, battery charges, MTTP solar charge controllers, led lights include tube lights, battery, bulbs, industrial wall washers, high bay/low bay lights, street lights, down lights, solar lanterns, soft lights, solar home lighting systems etc.

Around 45 students from our department participated in the industrial visit. We left the college at 12.30 pm and reached the destination by 1.30 pm. Students were guided by a senior person of the company. They took us to printing section of resistors, capacitors and active components. They demonstrated how the transistor was made and shown different types of heating process. Later, they took us to the place where voltage regulators were assembled. We also witnessed brush assembly which is used in DC motors. We saw how microelectronic circuits were manufactured using high speed component placer. All together it was good exposure on hybrid microelectronics. We would like to thank our department for giving us this wonderful chance of witnessing the manufacturing process.
