International Distinguished Lecture “Innovative Teaching and Learning Pedagogical Approaches”
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering hosted an international distinguished lecture on “Innovative Teaching and Learning Pedagogical Approaches” on April 24th 2025. The session featured Dr. Ramachandran Subramanian Raj, Senior Lecturer at Cardiff School of Technologies, Cardiff Metropolitan University. His presentation emphasized the significance of understanding and adopting innovative teaching and learning methods prevalent in Western Education Systems.
Dr. Ramachandran, a PhD holder in Computing from Sheffield Hallam University and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), specializes in Software Engineering, Requirement Engineering, and user acceptance of language technologies, particularly for minority languages. His teaching approach, rooted in social constructivism and experiential learning, has been well received both in the UK and across the globe.
A unique aspect of the lecture was the opportunity for participants to submit and present research papers in Welsh, English, and Tamil. Dr. Ramachandran, also a Welsh language student, has gained recognition for his language learning journey, which was featured on BBC’s S4C channel and covered extensively by BBC Wales. His interviews and articles have appeared in numerous print media outlets across UK, Malaysia, Singapore, and India.
The session highlighted the importance of transforming traditional classrooms into dynamic, interactive learning environments that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. By fostering Student-Centered learning, active engagement, and technology integration, educators can enhance the learning experience and make it more impactful. The lecture proved to be highly informative and engaging, with active participation from both students and faculty members, making it a truly enriching experience.
