EXPERT LECTURE 2025-2026
Expert lecture on Exploring Open-Source Technologies in 5G and Artificial Intelligence
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised an expert lecture on “Exploring Open-Source Technologies in 5G and Artificial Intelligence” on 7th April 2026. The session was delivered by Nitin Jain, Independent Wireless Signal Processing Consultant. The lecture aimed to highlight the growing role of open-source technologies in 5G and AI development and their impact on modern communication systems.
The speaker explained how open-source frameworks such as OpenAir Interface and Srsran support flexible and cost-effective 5G network deployment. He discussed the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques for intelligent resource allocation and network optimisation in 5G systems. Emphasis was placed on improving traffic prediction and Quality of Service using AI-driven approaches.
Popular open-source AI tools such as Tensorflow, Pytorch, and ONXX were introduced for communication and signal processing applications. The session also covered the role of open source in implementing Software-Defined Networking and Network Function Virtualisation. These technologies were highlighted as key enablers of scalable and flexible 5G architectures.
The lecture outlined emerging career opportunities in 5G and AI using open-source platforms. Roles such as 5G Network Engineer, AI/ML Engineer, and wireless systems developer were discussed. The session was attended by 113 sixth-semester students and provided valuable insights into future trends, tools, and career pathways in next-generation communication systems.
