EXPERT LECTURE 2024-2025

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organised a guest lecture on “FDE – Forward Deployed Engineer: New Role in the AI Era” on 18 September 2026 for fifth-semester students. The session was delivered by Mr Sai Kumar V, Founder and CEO of Ideal Mind Technology, Bengaluru, who highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence in the evolving industrial landscape.

He emphasised how AI is transforming business operations and creating new career opportunities for engineering graduates. The speaker introduced the concept of a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), a professional who works closely with clients to build, integrate, and deploy AI-powered solutions in real-world environments. He explained that FDEs bridge the gap between technology, business requirements, and customer expectations.

The talk discussed the increasing demand for FDEs as organisations focus on converting AI innovations into measurable business outcomes. Students gained insights into the practical challenges of deploying AI systems in production environments. The session also highlighted the multidisciplinary nature of the role, which combines technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and client interaction skills.

The speaker shared current industry trends and the growing importance of AI-driven careers in the global job market. He further discussed the attractive career prospects and high demand for professionals with AI and deployment expertise. A total of 137 students attended the session and benefited from the insightful discussion on this rapidly evolving career path.
