AI for Electronic Design Automation: Insights from Industry Expert Aloke Das
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering hosted an expert lecture on “AI for Electronic Design Automation” on April 4th 2025, delivered by Mr. Aloke Das, Founder of Lab and Lectures, and Chair of IEEE CASS Bangalore. The lecture highlighted the transformative role of AI in EDA and its impact on semiconductor design.
The key areas discussed included AI-driven automation in chip design, AI capabilities in EDA tools like Synopsys DSO.ai and Cadence Cerebrus, and AI for physical design optimization. Mr. Das also covered fault prediction and debugging using AI, and emerging job roles in AI-based chip design, such as AI/ML Engineer in EDA and AI Architect for the Semiconductor Industry.
The session, attended by 121 IV semester students, concluded with active discussions on AI’s future in VLSI and semiconductor industries, offering valuable insights into career opportunities and technological advancements.
